Must Have Wedding Accessories – Toasting Flutes and Cake Server Set

The wedding ceremony and reception are filled with traditional firsts: the first kiss as a married couple; the first blessing, the first toast, the first food. All of these rituals are meant to emphasize the journey you are taking as a couple from being engaged to being married. As they are done in a ceremony before witnesses, they are quite powerful and are designed to highlight the commitment you are making. As the wedding ceremony is the only surviving ritual that is world wide and thousands of years old, it has many different options that can be included. From what you wear, to where it’s held, to who is included in the processional, to what is done at the reception–weddings are as unique as the couples being wed. And “Wedding Accessories” are items that help with the rituals that have survived the test of time.

Having Officiated many weddings, I always enjoy the process that couples go through in creating their day. In the last ceremony I performed, the couple had spent a great deal of time selecting the readings and music that best reflected their thoughts on marriage. They included a Sand Ceremony and Family Blessing to underscore their deep commitment to each other and their families.

Although their budget was tight and they had eliminated many extras, the two wedding accessories they did not forgo were the engraved toasting flutes and cake servers. Their Best Man had written an exquisite toast and they wanted to honor this moment and preserve it. They planned to use these flutes for every anniversary and be reminded of the love they experienced from all their friends and family that day. They had the same feeling with cake server set. They loved the old ritual of cutting the first piece of cake (the “first food”) and feeding each other. For them it symbolized that their life together would be full of sweetness and that they would nourish each other through life’s blessings and challenges. Using a special server set commemorated that moment and will remind them of it every time they use it.

So remember that even if your finances are tight, there are certain essential wedding accessories that keep on giving long after your ceremony ends.
